Day 1: Explore the Ancient Heart of Rome
Day 1 will take you through the ancient heart of Rome, where you will explore Rome’s iconic historical sites.
First up on the Roman itinerary we recommend booking a guided tour that will take you on an ancient journey through the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and the Pantheon. Most of the tours available will include all three sites and will typically take about 2-3 hours to complete. On your way to the tour, make sure to stop by one of the hundreds of coffee shops for a shot of espresso and pastry to get you ready for the busy day ahead!
Colosseum
Located in the heart of Rome, the Colosseum is the largest amphitheater ever built. This majestic amphitheater, also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, is a true architectural masterpiece that has withstood the test of time. Constructed over 2,000 years ago, it was originally designed to host grand spectacles, including gladiatorial contests, animal hunts, and theatrical performances.
As you approach the Colosseum, its colossal presence commands attention.
Stepping inside the Colosseum is like stepping back in time. Imagine the thunderous cheers and roars of the crowds as gladiators engaged in fierce combat within the arena, or as exotic animals were unleashed into the arena’s center. Visiting the Colosseum today offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in history, to witness the legacy of the Roman Empire, and to appreciate the architectural genius that has inspired countless structures throughout the centuries.
